'ശ്രീലങ്കയിലെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ യാത്രകളിൽ സാരഥിയായി ഒപ്പം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പ്രിയൻ ചേട്ടന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു ഒരു ക്ഷണം കിട്ടിയപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് ഒത്തിരി സന്തോഷം തോന്നി. അവിടെ പ്രിയൻ ചേട്ടന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഞങ്ങൾക്കായി കുറച്ചു ശ്രീലങ്കൻ രുചികൾ പാകം ചെയ്തു തന്നു. ചിക്കൻ കറിയും മീൻ കറിയും ഒക്കെ ആയി നല്ല ഒരു നാടൻ ശ്രീലങ്കൻ ഊണ്. Priyan chettan was with us for most part of our Sri Lankan road trip. When he invited us to have food from his home, we were happy. On the way, we bought some chicken, fish and vegetables. There were many varieties of fish kept for sale. We chose a barracuda, and got it cleaned and cut from there itself. Priyan chettan\'s home resembled a Kerala village home. Cassava plants, coconut trees, banana plants, all just like our homes. His wife, Darshini chechi welcomed us with warmth. She cooked the fish and chicken that we bought, in her traditional Sri Lankan cooking style. Cooking was partly done over firewood. Their cooking style is different from ours. Fish curry and chicken curry tasted different, but they were good. I loved the Sri Lankan curry with taro, and also their Cheera Thoran (spinach dish). Although they used a different kind of leaf for this dish, it tasted like our very own cheera thoran. I loved the evening that we spent at Priyan chettan\'s home. More than the taste of dishes, it was the hospitality of the hosts that filled our hearts. A big thanks to Priyan chettan and his family! പ്രിയൻ ചേട്ടന്റെ ഭാര്യ ദർശിനി ചേച്ചി വളരെ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ ആണ് ഞങ്ങളെ സ്വീകരിച്ചത്. പ്രിയൻ ചേട്ടന്റെ വീട് ഒരു ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ആണ്. നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടിൽ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിൽ ഉള്ള പോലെ ഒരു കൊച്ചു വീട്. അവിടെ സ്നേഹത്തോടെ ഞങ്ങളെ സ്വീകരിച്ച ചേട്ടനും ചേച്ചിയും, കൂടെ നല്ല ശ്രീലങ്കൻ ഊണും കറികളും, നമുക്ക് വേറെ എന്തു വേണം അല്ലെ. കറികളുടെ പാചകം നമ്മുടെ രീതിയിൽ നിന്നും ഒത്തിരി വ്യത്യാസം ഉണ്ട്. മീൻ ആയാലും ചിക്കൻ ആയാലും മസാലപ്പൊടികൾ ചേർത്ത് തിളപ്പിച്ച് എടുക്കുന്ന രീതി ആണ് അവരുടേത്. കറികളുടെ രുചി നല്ലതു തന്നെ. അവരുടെ ചേമ്പ് കറിയും ചീര തോരനും ആണ് എനിക്ക് ഏറ്റവും ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടത്. വീഡിയോ കണ്ടു നോക്കൂ.
